USPS Offering $15,000 to Mail Handlers Who Accept Buyouts or Early Retirement

The U.S. Postal Service is offering voluntary early retirement and separation incentives of up to $15,000 each for most of the 45,000 employees represented by the National Postal Mail Handlers Union, according to a May 24 statement and other information from USPS that was posted on the union’s website.

Major provisions of the program, which was agreed to in a May 22 memorandum of understanding between USPS and NPMHU, include the following, USPS said:
