USCIS Chief Ur Jaddou Addresses Agency Budget Woes, Backlogs

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Ur Mendoza Jaddou said Monday that funding challenges and a backlog of cases are top priorities for the agency.

“A healthy USCIS, one that is fiscally and operationally sound, is critical to supporting an immigration and naturalization system that can efficiently deliver services and benefits to applicants and beneficiaries,” Jaddou said during a livestream of the National Immigrant Integration Conference in Las Vegas.

USCIS is the Department of Homeland Security unit charged with administering immigration laws and processing services and benefits. Jaddou was confirmed by the Senate to lead the agency July 30.
