US Citizenship and Immigration Services Gets New Acting Director

Homeland Security Department career staffer Angelica Alfonso-Royals will serve as the new interim leader of the agency that administers legal immigration benefits.

Alfonso-Royals was appointed acting director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services last week, taking over the role filled by former chief financial officer Kika Scott since February.

Alfonso-Royals has served in various Homeland Security and USCIS positions, according to the agency’s website, among them chief of the Office of Legislative Affairs and chief of the Office of Communications.
