UPS, Union Bargaining Injunction Clarified, Not Erased (1)

UPS Freight’s failed bargaining with its union isn’t a good enough reason to discard an order blocking the company from discriminating against its workers, a federal judge ruled.

A clause in the parties’ collective bargaining agreement was ruled discriminatory against disabled drivers in July. Since then, UPS Freight and the Teamsters have been negotiating a new agreement, as the one the court ruled on expired at the end of July. Employees will vote on a revised contract offer Nov. 9-11, with a strike looming if they reject it.
