UPS Talks on Labor Deal at Risk of Delay as Teamsters Balk (1)

United Parcel Service Inc. faces a delayed start to planned labor negotiations next week after the Teamsters said contract talks on a nationwide deal won’t begin until supplemental agreements with the union locals are completed.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters said in a statement Wednesday that UPS is stalling on completing regional agreements. The parties have wrapped up only 10 out of 40 ahead of a July 31 contract expiration, it said.

The national-level talks were expected to begin on April 17, but the union’s move could scuttle that schedule.
