UPS Lands Partial Dismissal of California Worker’s Wage Claims

Two United Parcel Service Inc. units defeated part of a wage-and-hour lawsuit a former employee filed on behalf of a proposed class of California workers.

The ex-employee lacks standing to pursue federal minimum wage and overtime claims, and he didn’t include enough detail to back up similar claims under state law, the US District Court for the Central District of California said. However, he provided enough information to advance his meal break claims, some of his untimely wage payment allegations, and his business expense reimbursement claims, the Wednesday order said.
