UPS Freight Workers Win More than $2 Million in Back Pay (1)

An arbitrator ruled that UPS Freight failed to appropriately apply a retroactivity provision in a contract extension and must pay workers what’s likely more than $2 million in back pay, according to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

The dispute stems from the terms of a collective bargaining agreement extension that was in effect when the Teamsters negotiated a new labor agreement with UPS Freight in 2018. Affected workers were in “wage progressions” rather than at the top of the wage scale during the extension.
