United Parcel Service Inc. freight drivers approved a labor contract, ending the threat of a strike that compelled the company to stop taking shipments for heavy cargo last week.
Workers voted 77 percent in favor of UPS’s final five-year offer after the company and union negotiators couldn’t reach an agreement to sweeten a contract that was rejected in October. Of eligible members, 84 percent cast votes, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters said in a statement Nov. 11.
