California employers are required to provide workers protective shoes if state worker safety rules mandate foot protection, a California appeals court affirmed in a decision against United Parcel Service Ground Freight Inc.

UPS had fair and adequate notice of its obligation to comply with California Labor Code provisions requiring employers to provide, and pay for, certain safety equipment like protective gloves and shoes, the California Court of Appeal for the Second District said Thursday.
