A male comic who was barred from shows and classes presented by the Upright Citizens Brigade after rape allegations were lodged against him can’t sue the comedy group for sex discrimination under Title IX, the Southern District of New York ruled.
Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments Act only applies to “education” activities and programs, the court said Tuesday. Upright Citizens Brigade LLC does offer training courses to fledgling comics, but Aaron Glaser wasn’t enrolled in any of those courses at the time of his ban, it said.
