Unum Must Pay Disability Benefits to Worker Citing Covid Vaccine

Unum Life Insurance Company of America should grant long-term disability benefits to a manufacturing company worker who claimed he became chronically ill after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine, a Washington federal judge ruled.

The body of proof from doctors’ reviews and medical records shows that the worker could not fulfill “even lighter occupational demands,” rendering him “disabled” within the meaning of Unum’s plan, said Judge Tiffany Cartwright of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington.
