The California Supreme Court was asked to help direct traffic at the intersection of California wage law with federal law and collective bargaining rights in a trio of cases involving United Airlines Inc. and Delta Air Lines Inc. workers.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit asked for clarification of state law as it reviews two separate cases involving unionized United pilots and flight attendants.
