Pilots at United Airlines Holdings Inc. will hold a vote on whether to authorize a strike, the latest move by aviators at major US carriers to weigh walkouts amid tense contract negotiations.

Leaders of the Air Line Pilots Association at United voted unanimously to approve the balloting Thursday night. The union chairman is expected to release further details Friday, a spokesman said. The airline and union are meeting weekly for negotiations until an agreement is reached, he said.
