Massachusetts Aims to Counter Janus

A Massachusetts bill (S. 2273) that would allow public-sector unions to charge nonmembers for services provided on their behalf was approved by the state Senate on June 27. The vote was 38-1.

The House approved a similar bill (H. 3854) June 5 by a tally of 155-1. The bills are a response to the 2018 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Janus v. AFSCME, which said public employees can’t be forced ...
