Avoid a Shutdown: Unions

The two largest federal employee unions—the American Federation of Government Employees and the National Treasury Employees Union—are urging Congress to avert a partial government shutdown this month.

The departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, State, Transportation, and Treasury are covered by a short-term funding measure that expires after Dec. 7, though Congress is planning a two-week funding extension.
