Union Election at Tennessee Nissan Plant Approved by NLRB (1)

The federal labor board authorized a union election for 4,300 workers at a Nissan Motor Co Ltd automotive plant in Tennessee, the latest attempt by organized labor to establish a manufacturing foothold in the South.

Lisa Henderson, the acting regional director for the National Labor Relations Board in Atlanta, approved an election for all production and maintenance employees at the Nashville-area plant. Voting will take place July 7-8 at the facility and be one of the first in-person union elections since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
