LOS ANGELES—The United Food and Commercial Workers and retail pharmacy chain CVS Caremark Jan. 17 announced that they have signed a “cooperation agreement” aimed at giving pharmacy workers at some 500 California stores the right to vote on union representation.
The agreement establishes a “quick and simple election process” for CVS workers in California to vote on whether or not to join the union, and also extends the existing collective bargaining agreement between CVS and UFCW to any California CVS pharmacy employees who choose union representation, according to a statement released by the parties.
