Uber Sued By Florida Driver Over Misclassification, Unpaid Wages

Uber Technologies Inc. was hit Wednesday with a proposed class action in a Florida federal court alleging it deliberately misclassified more than 1,000 drivers as independent contractors even though they’re actually employees under federal and state wage law.

The lawsuit was filed by Kathleen Short, who worked as an Uber driver in the Vero Beach area, on behalf of other similarly situated workers under the Fair Labor Standards Act and Florida wage law.
