Uber, Lyft Reporting Standard for Sex Assaults Set by California

California regulators on Thursday adopted a revised set of definitions for sexual assault and harassment that rideshare companies will use to track and report such incidents, responding to pressure from advocates for sexual assault survivors, as well as from Uber Technologies Inc., and Lyft Inc.

The new standards, which establish a framework for rideshare companies to adopt internal training, investigating, and reporting protocols, stem from an agreement the California Public Utilities Commission reached with Uber in December.
