Uber, Lyft Get Support for High Court Hearing in Arbitration Row

Uber Technologies Inc. and Lyft Inc. should get US Supreme Court review of their disputes with California, which is suing them on behalf of drivers who agreed to arbitrate any employment claims, business groups urged.

A state court decision allowing California to go after Uber and Lyft for allegedly misclassifying drivers as independent contractors when they’re really employees runs afoul of Supreme Court precedent and undermines private arbitration rights, according to amicus briefs three business groups and a law professor filed Monday in support of the companies’ petitions for high court review.
