Uber, Lyft Are Winning the Gig Worker War in States, Courts (1)

Gig-economy giants Uber Technologies Inc., Lyft Inc., and DoorDash Inc. appear to be winning the long-running battle over the classification status of their drivers, notching multiple state-level deals and court rulings to maintain their designation as independent contractors.

A Pennsylvania federal court judge dismissed an eight-year case July 30 where drivers for Uber Black alleged they were misclassified as independent contractors instead of employees, a win for the company who sought to have the dispute tossed out.
