Uber Getting California Regulators’ Attention in Assault Probe

Uber Technologies Inc.‘s appeal of a California Public Utilities Commission judge’s $59 million fine will get closed-door attention next week.

The commission is scheduled on Thursday to discuss in closed session Uber’s bid to block an administrative law judge’s proposed order for the ride-hailing company to provide information on sexual assault and harassment claims or pay the fine.

Uber frames it as a privacy fight in which it is being punished for being the only company to produce a safety report done in part with help from survivor rights’ groups.
