UAW Training Center Sues to Recover Funds Diverted to Union Leaders

The United Auto Workers-Chrysler National Training Center filed a lawsuit June 8 to recover millions of dollars allegedly diverted by former Fiat Chrysler Automobiles executives and given to labor union officials.

A person with knowledge of the matter confirmed to Bloomberg Law that the lawsuit was filed but wouldn’t give details or speak on the record.

Federal prosecutors in Detroit started filing indictments in the conspiracy in July 2017. Three former Fiat Chrysler executives and three former union leaders have already pleaded guilty.

The criminal case alleges that company executives funneled money meant for the training center to union leaders. ...
