U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Says Pay Bias Ruling Ignored Bonuses

The U.S. women’s soccer team told a San Francisco federal appeals court Friday that their equal pay lawsuit should be decided by a jury because the trial court downplayed or ignored the evidence of unequal pay in dismissing the case.

The women’s class claims under the Equal Pay Act and Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act that they’re paid less than the U.S. men’s team players because of their sex were rejected by a federal judge in Los Angeles in a May 1, 2020, ruling.
