TWU, IAM Agree to Jointly Represent Workers At Post-Merger American Airlines/US Airways

HOUSTON—The Transport Workers Union and the International Association of Machinists May 14 announced they have agreed to jointly represent nearly 30,000 mechanics and ground workers at American Airlines once it merges with US Airways, avoiding a bitter fight to determine which union will represent various classes and crafts of workers at the post-merger carrier.

The new labor partnership, to be called TWU/IAM Employee Association, covers the Mechanic & Related, Fleet Service, and Stores employee work groups at the airlines, which are to be merged soon.
