A group of Haitian immigrants has filed suit to preserve temporary protections for 350,000 people from the country living in the US.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said last month she would terminate Temporary Protected Status for Haitians after previously truncating existing protections.
TPS allows immigrants from designated countries to remain in the US with legal work authorization for up to 18 months at a time when it’s unsafe to return to their home countries. President Donald Trump’s administration has sought to remove protections for hundreds of thousands of immigrants from various countries covered by the relief.
