The Senate has kicked off the process to begin consideration of Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s nomination to lead the US Department of Labor.
The former Oregon representative will appear before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee Feb. 12 to face questions about her nomination, the committee announced Wednesday.
Chavez-DeRemer must be cleared by the panel before the full Senate can take up her nomination.
While some Republicans have voiced concerns over Chavez-DeRemer’s past support of union-backed legislation, business groups have endorsed the nominee.
