Trump DOL Scraps Effort to End Lower Wages for Disabled Workers

The US Labor Department tossed a Biden-era proposal to revisit a program that allows certified employers to pay a lower minimum wage to certain workers with disabilities.

The DOL announced it was withdrawing the rulemaking effort in a Federal Register notice, citing legal and policy concerns submitted in comments on the 2024 Biden rulemaking.

“The Department takes seriously the concerns expressed by Members of Congress and others that it lacks statutory authority to unilaterally and permanently terminate the issuance of section 14(c) certificates,” the notice said.
