Trump DHS Adopts New $1,000 Fee for Immigrants Paroled Into US

The Trump administration will begin charging a new $1,000 fee for immigrants granted entry to the US through a process known as humanitarian parole.

The fee—set to go into effect Thursday—is part of a broad swath of new costs imposed on immigrants in a $3.4 trillion Republican tax and spending bill passed by Congress in July. Other fees in the law included a $100 asylum application charge and a $500 fee for Temporary Protected Status.
