Trump Chief Counsel Lands at Labor Dept. Policy Shop

Jonathan Berry, a former Jones Day attorney turned Justice Department official, is now heading the Labor Department’s policy office, the agency confirmed to Bloomberg Law.

Berry was tapped in April for the influential post of principal deputy assistant secretary for policy. He now leads the office charged with counseling Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta on policy developments and overseeing the crafting of regulations across the department.

The office still awaits a Trump nominee for a permanent assistant secretary. Previously, Nathan Mehrens assumed the acting assistant secretary title, but Mehrens will now report to Berry.
