Trump Budget’s Immigration Goals Boost Processing, Enforcement

The Trump administration is seeking to elevate the US Labor Department office charged with ensuring foreign hiring doesn’t undermine American workers by making it report directly to the secretary of labor.

The goal in moving the Office of Foreign Labor Certification under the secretary is to speed up decision-making on employment-based visa issues, according to a fiscal 2027 budget proposal released by the White House Friday.
