Trump Asylum Work Rules Under Review, Changes Possible, DOJ Says

Trump regulations aimed at lengthening the amount of time an asylum seeker had to wait to apply for work authorization are now under review, with potential changes coming, according to a new government filing in a federal lawsuit over the rules.

The U.S. Justice Department said Friday, in a motion to stay proceedings before the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, that the asylum work permit rules in question were under review by the Department of Homeland Security, and that the review process “may result in mooting or reshaping Plaintiff’s claims.”
