Trucking Companies, Illinois Reach Overtime Wages Settlement

Two trucking companies and their owner will pay $335,000 to resolve claims that they failed to pay their drivers for all the time spent driving in between worksites, according to the Office of the Illinois Attorney General on Wednesday.

Velasco Enterprises Inc., Partner’s Hauling Inc., and owner Juan Velasco allegedly failed to compensate workers for time spent working over 40 hours in a week at 1.5 times their regular pay rate.

Velasco has also agreed to follow strict record keeping requirements to ensure the companies pay wages when they assign workers to projects, the attorney general’s office said.
