Truckers Lose Bid to Overturn New California Wage Law

A trucking association’s challenge to a new California Supreme Court ruling changing how that state’s courts distinguish between employees and independent contractors has been quashed by a federal judge.

Western State Trucking Association showed it altered its business practices to conform to the ruling. Consequently, it had standing to bring the lawsuit against the state agency that implements the new “ABC” test, Judge Morrison England Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California said March 28.
