Top Labor Secretary Aides Sidelined by Misconduct Probe Resign

March 3, 2026, 6:08 PM UTC

Two senior aides to Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer have resigned after spending weeks on leave due to an ongoing investigation into claims that the secretary had an inappropriate relationship with a coworker and committed travel fraud.

Chavez-DeRemer’s chief of staff Jihun Han and deputy chief of Staff Rebecca Wright have resigned from the department, according to a DOL official.

Han previously served as Chavez-DeRemer’s chief of staff while she was a member of Congress and Wright was her Oregon district director.

The pair’s ouster is the latest step in a set of scandals for the secretary, coming shortly after her husband was banned from DOL’s headquarters for allegedly assaulting two staffers.

They were both placed on administrative leave in January after the DOL’s Inspector General launched an internal investigation into accusations that they fabricated work trips for Chavez-DeRemer so she could spend time with family and friends.

The staffers’ resignation was first reported by the New York Post.

A security guard assigned to the secretary’s detail was also placed on administrative leave as officials investigate an alleged romantic relationship between them.

A White House spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
