A senior House Democrat is proposing legislation to crack down on the rise in child labor law violations as Congress remains divided on how to address the issue.

Education and the Workforce Committee Ranking Member Bobby Scott (Va.) will introduce a bill this week to strengthen child labor provisions under the Fair Labor Standards Act, part of his effort to push committee Chair Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) to dedicate more of the panel’s time to the rise in US Labor Department enforcement investigations of children working illegally.
