Top Earners See Greatest Gains in Access to Family Leave (1)

Private-sector workers made modest overall gains in access to paid family leave over the last year, with the top 10% of earners benefiting the most.

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released Sept. 19 reveal that 18% of private industry workers receive a paid family leave benefit, up from 16% in 2018 and 13% in 2017.

Earners in the top 10% for their occupation saw the biggest jump. The percentage of employees receiving paid family time benefits increased from 31% of top earners in 2018 to 35% in 2019. The lowest 10% of wage earners only gained 1 ...
