Community Loans of America Inc. and its subsidiary, Carolina Title Loans Inc., have agreed to pay $60,000 to settle a race harassment and disability discrimination lawsuit, the EEOC said Tuesday.
A branch manager at the Greenville, S.C., location allegedly subjected a Black employee to a hostile work environment based on race, including the use of racist slurs in the employee’s presence in violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, according to the the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. No action was taken after the employee reported the comments, the agency said.
