Tip-Pooling Rule Delay Finalized by Department of Labor

The U.S. Labor Department’s tip-pooling rule allowing restaurants to pay more of their tipped employees less than the federal minimum wage will be delayed until April 30.

The DOL issued two proposed rules earlier this month that would postpone the effective date of its tip-pooling and independent contracting rules. The comment period for the tip-pooling delay measure ended Feb. 17, and it’s scheduled to be published Friday in the Federal Register.
