Tip Credit in Maine Minimum Wage Law Is Restored

Maine restored the tip credit to its minimum wage law.

Gov. Paul LePage (R) signed LD673 June 26, keeping the state’s tipped wage at $5 and restoring the tip credit.

The credit allows employers to pay tipped employees a lower hourly wage, as long as the workers’ tips make up the difference between their subminimum wage rate and the mandated minimum wage.
