TIAA Accused of Underpaying Female, Black Workers in Labor Suit

The Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association of America unlawfully underpaid women and African-Americans who work at one of the financial services company’s North Carolina locations, the Labor Department alleges in an administrative complaint obtained Sept. 13 by Bloomberg Law.

The DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Program says TIAA systemically discriminated against women in the Project Management Office and Recordkeeping job functions, and black employees in the Wealth Management Advisory job function, by paying them less than male and white employees, respectively, who performed the same work.
