A cyberattack on a third-party service provider for the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board has resulted in the unauthorized access of the personal information of 123,201 Thrift Savings Plan participants, the board announced May 25.
The board and third-party provider Serco Inc. were notified of the incident in April by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to a statement from FRTIB.
“There is no indication that any of these data have been misused. In addition, there is no evidence that the TSP’s network or its website, https://www.tsp.gov, were affected,” the board said.
