A former state and federal parole agent won his appeals court bid to revive his tort suit against the US government for injuries he sustained while attempting to arrest a fugitive.
Michael Trently investigated and arrested fugitives while serving on a task force formed by the United States Marshals Service through an agreement with the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole. The federal government received immunity from a district court against Trently’s claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act that asserted a fellow task force member’s negligent driving during an attempt to apprehend a fugitive caused his injuries.
