Safelite AutoGlass in Austin, Texas, allegedly violated federal law by refusing to hire an applicant because she is a woman, the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Friday in a lawsuit filed in US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
The vehicle glass repair and replacement business allegedly didn’t hire a female applicant because of her gender though she was qualified for the position, and later hired two male applicants for the same role. This is conduct that would violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, according to the EEOC.
The case is EEOC v. Safelite AutoGlass, W.D. Tex., No. 1:22-cv-00887, 9/2/22
