The University of North Texas will pay a former mathematics professor $165,000 under a settlement to end his lawsuit alleging that he was terminated for criticizing the theory of “microaggressions” and refusing to apologize, the professor’s legal team said Thursday.
The settlement was finalized today, vindicating Nathaniel Hiers’ First Amendment rights, the Alliance Defending Freedom told Bloomberg Law in an email. The parties filed a joint stipulation that all claims are dismissed with prejudice pursuant to the deal.
