A would-be detention officer reached a deal to end his discrimination lawsuit alleging Bexar County, Texas, revoked his job offer after discovering his wife’s Santa Muerte altar.
The applicant, a Catholic, had said the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Javier Salazar unconstitutionally refused to go through with hiring him because of his association with his wife due to her disfavored religious beliefs. The parties agreed to dismissal with prejudice of all claims, with each side covering their own court costs, according to the stipulation of dismissal filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
