A Black female tennis pro has filed a civil rights action against Daniel Island Golf Club LLC in Charleston, S.C., alleging the club retaliated against her by hiring a White male to replace her after she complained about race and sex discrimination.
Plaintiff Shanetta Wilkins alleges she complained to her supervisor that she was being subjected to a hostile work environment by employees and members of the club who made offensive jokes, comments and statements, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of South Carolina.
