Tennessee Lawmakers Approve Seasonal Job Tax Credits

Tennessee businesses that create new seasonal and part-time “adventure tourism” jobs would be provided with a tax credit under a bill (S.B. 302) approved by lawmakers April 4.

If signed by Gov. Bill Haslam (R), as expected, the incentives bill, as amended, is estimated to create more than 80 jobs per year and result in forgone annual state revenue of about $41,000, beginning in 2017.

Current Tennessee law (Tenn. Code Ann. 67-4-2109) offers franchise and excise tax credits of up to $4,500 for certain permanent, full-time jobs with minimum health-care benefits.
