Tenet Hospital in Alabama Faces Disability Discrimination Suit

The EEOC has filed a disability discrimination suit against Tenet Healthcare Corp. and its subsidiary BBH SBMC LLC for allegedly firing an employee in Alabama for requesting an accommodation for a back injury suffered on the job, the EEOC said Thursday.

A psychiatric technician at Tenet’s Shelby Baptist Medical Center requested to transfer to a clerical job after her back injury, but she allegedly wasn’t allowed her to compete equally for such jobs even though she met or exceeded the required qualifications, according to the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
