Telemarketer to Pay $85,000 in Race, Sex Discrimination Suit

DialAmerica Marketing, a provider of telemarketing and call-center services, will pay $85,000 to resolve claims that it unlawfully fired a Black female worker, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced Tuesday.

According to the EEOC, a DialAmerica manager at the company’s Middleburg Heights, Ohio, location falsely accused the employee of using profanity on a customer call and sought to use the accusation to justify firing her, while the manager’s real reason was the employee’s race and sex.
